Equipment should never sit unused while a family nearby is waiting for it.
A family friend of ours has a child with special needs, and I watched how hard it was for them to track down the right equipment. Some of it cost more than they could reasonably spend. Some of it was just hard to find at all. And every time they got one thing sorted, their kid had already grown into needing the next.
The whole time, I kept thinking someone a few streets over probably had exactly what they were looking for, boxed up in a closet and forgotten.
That is the itch I wanted to scratch. Children's medical and special-needs equipment is expensive, and kids outgrow it fast: a wheelchair, a gait trainer, a nebulizer, a bath seat, bought for real money and used for a season. CareShare is a local network for passing that gear along. You post what you have or what you need, and someone nearby answers. No feed, no followers. One handoff at a time.
It is local on purpose. Shipping a bulky wheelchair across the country rarely makes sense, and the thing a family needs is usually closer than they would guess. Keeping it nearby also keeps it human. You are handing something to a neighbor, not shipping to a username.
One thing to be straight about: this is medical equipment, so safety comes first. CareShare connects families, but it does not inspect, endorse, or vouch for any item, and it does not verify members.
